Port Elgin Pumpkinfest

by Judi “Scoop” McWilliams

Who doesn’t love pumpkin festivals?

I suppose not everyone does, but the Nomad (Gary) and I do.

It’s fortunate, then, that we have a great one in our area…

… the Port Elgin Pumpkinfest!

This award winning festival started in 1986, and has been going strong ever since.

For us, the festival started on Port Elgin’s main street.

This was where the antique and classic cars were located.

After enjoying these “tributes” to times gone by, we followed the signs to Pumpkinfest Village.

As we walked through the Pumpkinfest Village, we explored all the interesting vendor booths.

There was lots of fun things to do for the whole family!

Music and carnival eats

An amazing “hay” maze!

Scary” rides…

… and, of course, the PUMPKINS!

There were other “BIG” veggies and fruit on display, but nothing topped the giant pumpkins!

Who knew that giant “squash” (pumpkins) could goes SO BIG!

These “giants” needed a tractor with a forklift to get them to the weigh station!

Inside the tent was where the “action” was taking place!, the “weigh-off“!

We stayed for some time, watching the “weigh-off“, and then left the tent to discover what else the festival offered.

We wound our way back through the village, back to the main street, and more antique cars.

And then past the “Great Pumpkin” (the Pumpkinfest Information Booth)

What great way to spend a Fall afternoon, the Port Elgin Pumpkinfest!
